the fate of richard and kahlan

It came today. The book I've been waiting for.

I look forward to new movies. New books, however, bring out the geek in me. I was excited about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...but this surpasses that by far.

Since 2003 I've been reading about Richard and Kahlan and their fight to preserve freedom and save the new world. And now, finally, I get to find out their fate. Confessor, the eleventh and final book in the Sword of Truth series, showed up in my mailbox this morning. Yay!! Seriously, I did a little "I'm so happy!" dance in the post office. (Got a few interesting looks as well...)

I want nothing more than to devour this book. I want to creep into D'Hara and hide behind one of the soldiers' tents to watch the events unfold. But...I'm being a Good Mommy. I decided if I didn't set limitations I was going to dive in...and that's not fair to the Little Mister. So I'm only allowed to read when he's asleep. And, wow, It. Is. So. Hard. Horribly hard! I'm only on page 107 of 603. A year ago I would have been 3/4 through the book in this amount of time.

I know that one person who reads this blog is wondering about Richard and Kahlan too, but most of you probably don't know what I'm talking about. But that's not the point. The point is that books, especially the release date of new books, make me geeky. I'm perfectly okay with that..I accepted it a long time ago. Are there any other geeks out there? Does anyone else look forward to new books more than new movies?

And now it's time to go. I took time out after I put the Little Mister to bed to say hello to my bloggy friends. But now it's time to READ!! ;)

  1. yep I'm wondering what happens to them. You have to at least tell me if they are together at the end. Nothing else. I'll get up to that one soon.

  5. I love to read. I always have something in progress on my nightstand, although these days with the amount of reading required for my classes, early mornings and late nights I am making very little progress on my fun reading. By the time I get to bed I pass right out. In fact I got a book out of the library and think I am on page five and it is already over due. Sigh.

  10. I have been known to sit on the front steps and wait for the mailman to come with my books. I must look into this series. Whereas there is a great feeling of excitement leading up to the delivery of a new book in a series, I get such joy at finding a wonderful, completed set of books. Knowing that they are all there, just waiting for me, no downtime on my part.... ectasy:)

  11. I loved the book! You will have to tell me when you finnish it if you liked it too (but its Richard and Kahlan so how can you not love it????) Read and enjoy!!!!! (I totally understand how hard it is not to read constantly with a kid, I was able to plow through it, but only because Hannah and I have been sick so we have been watching mickey mouse over and over and over and over and over again, and I read while we cuddled to prevent from screaming when Hannah wanted to see Mickey again and we only have 1 30 min video of mickey.)

  12. I like the excitement of a new book coming out. I am much more excited about books than movies. Especially series books. They are my favorite. I was pretty annoying to live with right before Deathly Hallows came out. I have never heard of this series, though. I will have to check it out, although it is disapointing to find out about it after all the books are already out!

  13. I'm a geek about this too, although I've never read Goodkind. Have you tried Robib Hobb? Try the Assassin series.
