Sympathy

After the Little Mister and I finished breakfast we headed to the living room. He immediately immersed himself in blocks, trains, books, and chatter in a language I cannot understand....and I (of course) turned on last night's recorded Olympics.

After synchronized diving (how beautiful is that?!) came women's gymnastics. I was oohing and ahhing over the Chinese team, and the Little Mister wasn't paying any attention at all.

Then one of the Chinese girls fell on the vault, a horrible and painful looking fall. "Oohhhhhhh" I said.

Without even looking up from his Duplos, the Little Mister said, "Uh-oh."

How's that for sympathy?

  1. A rather appropriate response, don't you think?

  3. Aww. What a little sweetie!

Seriously. How rough was it for the US women's gymnastics. Yipes! Those girls were struggling.
Did you catch the men's 400 relay swim? That was the best race I have ever seen! I was silently (everyone was sleeping but me) screaming the whole time! :)

  4. That's sweet.

When do they start playing alone? Zo is outraged if we're not completely engrossed in her every activity.

  6. Did he like the flying mens gymnasts?? They were SO EXCITING to watch! They gave me goose bumps... especially when they were all hitting their routines yesterday.

Glad we have something to make 2 weeks of your time pass by very quickly!

  8. I love watching gymnastics! Isn't it always amazing how very small children can pick up on emotional reactions and respond as if on cue?
